I collaborated closely with curator Luke Whittaker to design the exhibition pamphlet for Biomes at the Hessel Museum of Art. Drawing from the exhibition’s domestic themes and artist-curator dialogues, I developed a visual system that echoed the show’s investigation of how art lives beyond institutional spaces. The design aimed to reflect the intimacy, plurality, and material experimentation present in the artworks while maintaining clarity for public engagement. The process involved iterating on compositions, typography, and visual sequencing to align the reading experience with the exhibition’s tone and spatial experience.

I initially proposed 3 directions—“Brochure As A Home,” “Brochure As A Monologue,” and “Brochure As A Curation.” We ultimately landed on “Brochure As A Home,” drawing inspiration from the concept of a front door. The final exhibition pamphlet opens from the center like a doorway, revealing illustrated artworks inside—mirroring the feeling of entering someone’s personal space. This format supported the curator’s intent to create an intimate, welcoming experience that echoed the exhibition’s exploration of domestic settings and the lived presence of art.
