Whisper In Time is a dual-language (Chinese-English) monograph for emerging artist Xia Yu , whose tempera paintings portray contemporary urban life through a soft Morandi palette and floating blocks of light and shadow. To echo his use of negative space and preserve full image detail, I chose French fold binding—allowing artwork to expand across spreads without disruption. From type pairing to layout rhythm and cover design, the book was crafted to thoughtfully reflect Xia Yu’s visual language and artistic practice.
